Americans for Job Security to bring 'Richie the Rat' to NH
By Shawn Millerick - New Hampshire Journal
Pro-business advocacy group Americans for Job Security (AJS) will be placing a large inflatable rat at the site of the GOP presidential debate at Dartmouth College in Hanover on Tuesday.
Known as "Richie the Rat," he has his own Facebook page and website, which reads: “The NLRB said it was okay for unions to inflate giant rats in front of businesses that chose not to unionize. So now, I’m a Big Rat getting up in Big Labor’s face to see how THEY like it. I’m standing FOR workers and UP TO Big Labor. Union bosses—how you like me now?"
According to AJS, their goal in bringing Richie to New Hampshire is to encourage the Republican candidates – the majority of whom will be present at Dartmouth for Tuesday’s debate – to focus on what the group refers to as the Obama administration’s “job-killing” labor policies as enacted by the National Labor Relations Board’s (NLRB).
"As New Hampshire citizens watch tomorrow’s Presidential debate they will be listening for ideas on how to jump-start our economy," said AJS President Stephen DeMaura, "Rolling back the job-killing regulations imposed by President Obama’s National Labor Relations board should be among the highest priorities of each Republican hopeful."
This will be Richie the Rat’s third appearance after being introduced at a NRLB hearing in July. His presence at the hearing was intended to highlight the agency’s recent decision to allow union bosses to display large inflatable rats to intimidate employees, employers and consumers during labor disputes. Richie also showed up on Martha’s Vineyard to coincide with President Obama’s August vacation.
Richie will be on the Dartmouth campus in Hanover tomorrow, Tuesday, October 11, at 1:00 PM. He will be located at 11 W. Wheelock Street, which is directly across the street from the press filing center for the debate.
